From the Principal

We have arrived at the end of another busy term. During the next couple of days, we will be saying farewell to the Class of 2023. Today the Year 12s have organised some games for all the Primary and Infants students, and in the afternoon, the whole school came together to say goodbye to the Year 12s with some performances and gifts. They also organised a fun afternoon for the Secondary students for Spirit Day on Tuesday. We shall miss their presence in the school and continue to support them with our prayers as they sit the HSC exams next term.
We have also been saying farewell to two long-standing members of staff. Although Mary-Rose Pintado retired earlier in the year, we have not been able to formally say goodbye until this month. Mary-Rose joined us for the last Secondary Assembly, during which the Secondary students performed some musical items and a performance of Shakespearean sonnets, which the Year 11 girls had performed when they were in Year 7. Mary-Rose has been working with the Pared schools for almost 40 years, starting the High School in Tangara, and serving as Principal and Deputy Principal at Tangara, before moving to Montgrove in 2011 to start the High School here. We are so grateful for the many years that she has dedicated to teaching and leading at the schools. She had a great love for literature and the humanities and the high standards she set from the beginning will be a legacy that continues at Montgrove for many years to come.
Catherine Mendoza also retired this term after almost 20 years teaching Spanish and Sport at Montgrove. Ever since she started, she has taught every single Primary student that has gone through Montgrove! And she has done so with her characteristic enthusiasm, energy, cheerfulness and warmth. All the students have very fond memories of the Infants Cross Country Carnivals, Skip-a-thons and Spanish Days that Catherine organised each year. She will be very much missed by all the staff and students. We wish her all the best and hope that she enjoys a well-earned break during her retirement.
Congratulations to Amelia Lay (Yr 12) who was awarded the Bishop of Parramatta Award for Student Excellence. This award is given to a Year 12 student who is a witness to the faith and who has made an outstanding contribution to the school. We thank Amelia for her service leadership both in the school and in the local community. Thank you also to Janice Arul-Selvan, who was the citation reader for the award ceremony.
Thank you to Mrs Abacum and Mrs Japon for organising our first Montrgrove-Wollemi Mother’s Night last Saturday. We had a great turn out. Between the singing, games and great company, the evening went too quickly. Looking forward to next year’s!
Wishing you all a safe and enjoyable break. I hope you can take advantage of the sunny weather to enjoy some family time in the great outdoors.
Congratulations

From the Chaplain

Here is part of a student's poem, which appeared in an issue of "The Catholic Weekly”, years ago:
"Lord, if you want to, make me clean."
(Such faith this prayer revealed).
“0f course I do" said Jesus,
And with love the leper healed.
What must have been this
man's new joy
Who surely in his way,
Would reach out to the lonely too -
As his Master did that day?
By Beres Shore, East Lismore.
St Josemaría advised us to turn the often mundane prose of everyday life into epic poetry.
May we do it, with a bit of love, sacrifice and Heaven's help. May we add it, every day, into the book of our life. May it come to the notice of more than one poor soul, in need of inspiration.

Late Arrival / Early Departure Procedure
On occasion, when your child arrives at school late or is picked up early due to an appointment or other reason, you will be required to fill in the 01 Absence, Late arrival or Early Departure form on Engage on the day of their early departure/late arrival.
If you need to pick up your child(ren) up for an appointment that can’t be arranged outside of school hours, we kindly request for you not come during recess (10:15-10:30 for Secondary & 10:55-11:25am for Primary) or lunch (12:45-1:30pm) as it is difficult to get messages to students on the playground.
We also kindly ask that you arrive at school with enough time before you need to leave the school premises with your child, so that we can have time to call their classroom and arrange for them to come to the office. Students will only be called to come down to the office once a parent or guardian arrives.
If your child is attending a morning appointment, you may receive an absence text message. Please disregard this message as their presence at school will be amended once they arrive at school (and you have submitted the absence form).
